People assume the hardest part of building across industries is the technology. It is not. Technology obeys logic. The hardest part is finding people — capable, ambitious, positive, accountable people — and building the trust that lets you hand them real authority.
What I learned
- Trust early. The interview never really ends anyway.
- Empower seriously — half-authority produces half-ownership.
- Push people past their own estimate of themselves; most ceilings are guesses.
- Ideas from anywhere, decisions from one place, responsibility everywhere.
Every venture taught me a different technical language. But the meta-skill underneath all of them was the same: assembling humans into a system that builds systems.
Finding the correct team was the hardest part of building the larger vision.
